A brief, sanitised history of Jason Friesen
I was born in Kelowna, British Columbia in the early 1970s and moved to Trail, British Columbia when I was three. I went to Central Elementary School (established 1911, decommissioned in the early 2000s) from Kindergarten until Grade Seven. I then attended J. Lloyd Crowe Secondary School until graduation. During that time I was a regular attendee at church and participated in several musical/acting endeavors.
After graduation I went to Briercrest College where I met my wife, Bonne. We moved to Edmonton, Alberta and married in 1993. During that time I got my first taste of leading worship in a church setting. Using a borrowed guitar, I led worship for a smallish congregation of under a hundred and tested out many ideas.
Our oldest son, Thálion, was born eighteen months later. We moved to Castlegar, British Columbia in 1996. Our daughter, Celia, was born a year later, and Seth followed sixteen months after that. In Castlegar, I continued to lead worship in a number of churches in the area, most often at the Evangelical Covenant Church.
In 1999, I got well sick of working low-paying jobs to which I was poorly suited, and enrolled at Selkirk College to do some upgrading. In 2000 I started the Multimedia Production and Design program at Selkirk College with the intention of building database-driven web sites. One such project was developing a new site for Selkirk College in collaboration with Andrew Quinton, a gifted web designer. This led to Selkirk hiring me as their first full-time Web Developer in December 2002.
We spent five years living in Trail, BC again, and are back in Robson, BC which is a short commute from Selkirk.
In 2007 I purchased my first motorcycle and became a motorcycle enthusiast, on top of my many other interests.
